Seasoned Logs

Getting the right moisture content for your firewood is vital for ensuring a quality, lasting burn. Fieldhouse Logs both produce and supply a wide range of seasoned firewood. Each log has been stored for between six months and two years, which allows the natural movement of air to fully ventilate the logs and drive out excess moisture. The process is complete when the moisture content of each log falls below 20%, resulting in a source of firewood that is easier to light and more environmentally friendly to burn.

To maintain a low level of moisture content, we store our seasoned logs in our specially designed warehouse for the duration of the seasoning process, which ensures that they are protected from the elements and kept dry and warm throughout the year.

Kiln Dried Logs

Ideal for use on open fires, wood burning stoves and more, our bags of kiln dried logs are simply firewood that has been placed in a kiln or other source of heat in order to remove the vast majority of trapped moisture. We carry out this process ourselves using our own on-site facilities, in order to ensure that our quality control guidelines are upheld to the letter.

Kiln dried logs have a number of advantages over other sources of firewood – they are easier to light, burn much more efficiently and at higher temperatures, and ultimately produce more heat per log. In addition, you can expect a clean burn from our kiln dried logs that release far fewer long term problems normally associated with stoves and residues.

Bags of Kindling for Sale

A quality fire starts with quality kindling, and at Fieldhouse Logs we can supply a range of suitable and sustainably sourced bags of kindling for sale, useful for any and all requirements. Our bags of kindling are available in a variety of sizes and volumes. Each one is delivered in user friendly net bags that are well ventilated and easy to store.

Our bags of kindling are for sale on an individual and wholesale basis, and we cover homes, stations, village shops, farm shops and outlets throughout Teesside and North Yorkshire, covering Durham, Darlington, Stockton, and Middlesbrough. There’s no minimum volume for our orders, which means that no order is too large or too small for us to handle personally.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our hardwood logs are cut from oak, birch, ash, beech, sycamore and alder. Our softwood logs are cut from pine.
Most of our logs are split logs 3 to 5 inches wide and between 8 to 10 inches long. Logs can be cut to your preferred size to suit log burning stoves or any other application.
Kiln dried as the name suggests are logs that have been dried out using a kiln or other heat source. Our logs are all air dried this takes longer but we believe it delivers a better burning log, and we have ample space to air dry logs at our facility.

Hard wood logs are longer burning and they don’t spit, which makes them ideal for open fires. If you use softwood logs on an open fire we advise using a fireguard to catch any sparks that may spit out.

Soft wood logs around 30% cheaper than hardwood logs, and are perfect for wood burners, the sap and resin content of softwood logs (when properly dried) help to make softwood logs burn hotter and easier than hardwood logs. Many customers use softwood logs to get the fire started, before adding hardwood logs.

By all means just give Ben a call (01325 731717) and we can arrange a time for you to come to our premises to select and or collect your own logs.

Excellent customer service

Aug 08, 2016 by Lesley Webb

We ordered a medium log store and a large dumpy bag of seasoned logs. The access for delivery of the log store was very difficult but the delivery boys were incredibly helpful in positioning it exactly where we wanted it. Very good quality logs too.
